Giving Back To The Community
I think that it is a given that the people who work in a veterinary hospital have a deep love for animals and genuine respect for animal life. This is true at the Sardis Animal Hospital as well, and when we have a chance to join the community to raise funds for the local SPCA we don’t need to be asked twice. September of 2013 found many of our employees, their families and friends walking among the throngs of animal supporters in the annual Chilliwack SPCA Pause for a Cause fund raiser. The sun was out, tails were wagging, the smiles were bright and a splendid time was had by all.
The creation of the prevention of cruelty of animals act in BC was passed in 1895. By 1891 there were already a dozen branches of the SPCA in BC. For well over a hundred years their role has been an important one. Branches work with the community to provide services such as cruelty investigations, sheltering and adoption, emergency rescue and treatment, humane education, advocacy, wildlife rehabilitation and a wide range of other programs to help animals. The BC SPCA currently receives no provincial or federal support. The abused and abandoned animals rescued depend on your support! Given the mammoth task at hand of defending those that cannot speak for themselves, it is hard to imagine a more worthy cause to raise money for.
We are already preparing for this year’s walk in September. If you would like to be a part of “Team Sardis Animal Hospital” give us a call and join our cheery group. If you are unable to join us for a walk this September please consider a donation to support their ongoing work.
